Today it was Katlego Ranaka’s Memorial service

Family, friends and colleagues have honoured Katlego Ranaka in a memorial service held at San Salvador Catholic Church in Leondale today.
Katlego, known as KG, passed away last week, survived by her mother Manaka Ranaka, siblings, son, grandparents, aunts and uncles. She was also into the arts fraternity.
Katlego’s funeral will be held on Saturday, at Sam Salvador Catholic Church, from 8 am to 11 am, and later be buried at South Park cemetery.

Her funeral will be held at the San Salvador Catholic Church in Leondale, Ekurhuleni, and will be laid to rest at South Park Cemetery in Germiston, Ekurhuleni.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, 30 January, at the same location as the funeral. The Ranaka family has requested attendees to adhere to a theme for the ceremonies.

“In honour of Katlego’s wishes and in celebration of her life, the family requests that the attendees observe the black and baby blue theme,” Manaka wrote on her Instagram page.

Katlego passed away on Thursday, 23 January, age 24.

Her family confirmed the news of her passing on Saturday, 25 January.

“It’s with heavy hearts we share the sorrowful news of the passing of our cherished Katlego “KG” Ranaka on 23 January 2025.

“The Ranaka family humbly requests your prayers and respect for their privacy during this profoundly challenging time,” the statement read.

A candlelight clap and tap ceremony will be held on Friday evening, 31 January, at her home in Leondale.

Tributes from industry peers and fans have been pouring in for Manaka and the Ranaka family.

Actor and TV presenter Zola Hashatsi sent condolences to the family.

“There’s no formula to this thing called life, and we don’t have all the answers at times, but no parent should ever have to bury their kid. My heart, prayers, thoughts, and love go out to you skeem sam, Manaka Ranaka.”

“I’m lost for words. A job well done you did with Katlego Ranaka. May she find peace. Love and Light to the entire family too,” he said.

Poet Ntsiki Mazwai also extended condolences.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ranaka family at this challenging time. May the grace carry you, and may you feel our abundant love pour into your sore hearts,” Ntsiki wrote.

Former Muvhango star Phindile Gwala ‘s husband and beautiful daughter

Phindile Gwala is a South African actress, best known for playing the role of Nonny Nkosi on Sabc2’s Tshivenda soapie Muvhango from 2012 to 2017.
