Sol Phenduka faces backlash over comments on Minnie Dlamini
South African radio and podcast host Solomzi “Sol” Phenduka is facing heat online following controversial comments he and co-host Mac G made about Minnie Dlamini on their popular show, Podcast and Chill.
The remarks, which were deemed nasty by many listeners, came in the wake of Dlamini’s public breakup with celebrity surgeon Dr. Brian Monaisa.
As the episode made rounds on social media, many users didn’t hold back, slamming Sol for what they considered disrespectful and unnecessary commentary.
The backlash quickly gained momentum, with fans and followers of the media personality flooding platforms with criticism directed at the Kaya 959 host.
In response to the online outrage, Sol took to social media to defend himself, though in a rather rhetorical and pointed manner.
Instead of issuing a formal apology or explanation, he simply asked, “Can I live?” — a question that sparked even more reactions from users who felt he was deflecting accountability.

Actress Gugu Gumede thankful for her new body
Gugu Gumede is celebrating a major personal milestone as she opened up about her impressive weight loss transformation.
The actress and director recently took to her social media to reveal her new look, posting striking before and after photos that documented the significant change in her appearance.
Alongside the images, she wrote, “So glad to have made the decision to not give up on myself.”
Gugu’s transformation comes more than a year after she underwent vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery in January.
Though she initially kept the procedure private, she later returned to her YouTube channel in May last year to share the details of her journey, revealing that she had dropped 30kg in just four months.
“After losing 30kg in four months, I’m finally sharing my honest experience with weight loss surgery,” she said in the candid video.
She explained how her weight spiraled after she stopped breastfeeding, which led to unhealthy eating habits and ultimately threatened her well-being.
Reflecting on that period, Gugu said, “I got to this place where I was so unhappy. I was unhappy with the weight, and with how I felt physically. I didn’t feel good, my feet would hurt. I literally would go to bed at night and my heart would be pounding so much, and I was so scared because I had high blood pressure. I knew I was at high risk of becoming a chronic patient.”
Making the choice to have surgery wasn’t easy, but Gugu knew she needed to take control of her health.
“I wanted to get the gastric sleeve because I wanted to limit the amount of food I was eating,” she explained.
The journey wasn’t without challenges. She admitted to struggling mentally shortly after the operation.
“I had a difficult three days about two weeks post-op. I struggled mentally because I was like, what in the world did I do to myself, did I ruin my life?” she recalled.

Anele Mdoda defends Sizwe Dhlomo following her Lobola ceremony
Anele Mdoda isn’t letting the online fashion police come for her best friend Sizwe Dhlomo without a fight.
The celebrated media personality stepped in to defend Dhlomo after he came under fire on social media for his outfit choice at her recent lobola ceremony.
Images from the event sparked chatter online, with many critics saying Sizwe’s look, which included gumboots and a winter coat, didn’t match the significance of the occasion.
Some even claimed that Anele’s special day “deserved better.”
But the outspoken TV and radio host wasn’t having any of it.
Speaking on her breakfast show Anele & The Club on 947, she addressed the backlash head-on and gave context to her friend’s much-talked-about attire.
“Why did Sizwe offend so many people with his outfit?” she asked before offering her explanation.
Anele made it clear that while the coat may have overshadowed the rest of his outfit, Sizwe was in fact dressed appropriately underneath.
“Sizwe was wearing a traditional shirt. Maybe because of the coat on top. Sizwe is a grandmother’s child, he doesn’t like the cold,” she explained with a laugh.
She further added that his decision to bundle up made perfect sense given his lifestyle: “Sizwe was wearing the coat from the word go. And also, Sizwe doesn’t drink. You guys get warm from your wine. His temperature stays the same until he goes to bed.”

Rethabile Khumalo launches burger business to fulfill late mom’s dream
Rethabile Khumalo launches mobile kitchen
Singer Rethabile Khumalo has ventured into the culinary world, launching her first mobile kitchen in the heart of Protea Glen.
This is a deeply personal mission to carry forward the dreams she once shared with her late mother, iconic songstress Winnie Khumalo, who passed away on January 7.
Back during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mother-daughter duo envisioned owning a food truck business together. Though life intervened, Rethabile never let go of the idea.
Now, with the launch of her mobile burger kitchen stationed at 17673/8 Protea Glen Ext 9 in Cheesehood Avenue, she’s bringing that shared vision to life.
“My mom and I bought a food truck and we wanted to sell burgers. We realised we could handle it on our own and when we were supposed to launch it, my mother passed away,” she recalled.
“I wanted to carry on with her wishes to open the kitchen because she always believed in my cooking and most of the things I would do.”
Since opening nearly a week ago, the response has been overwhelming.
Rethabile has already sold 100 burgers, with customers praising both the flavor and quality. Her menu also includes a vegetarian option, though she notes demand for it remains low in her township community.
Still, she remains committed to serving a diverse clientele.
“I make sure I accommodate for everybody because it’s not only about kasi. There are people who come from far to buy my burgers and I appreciate them.”
Running the business solo has come with its challenges, but her dedication is unwavering.
“I am selling a lot. I am working alone but I believe I will get people to assist me. It gets hectic. I always make sure I push as much as I can. I don’t like to keep people waiting, so I make sure when I open the burgers are half done so when they arrive to buy I put them back on the stove.”
Beyond business success, Rethabile’s ultimate goal is to inspire others who, like her, come from humble beginnings and have big dreams.
“I want it to expand. I want to have branches at kasi malls to show a girl like me from kasi who is a singer can do more. I want to make my mom proud. I am willing to do anything to make my mom proud because I am the woman I am today because of her.”
