Shweshwe traditional dresses are made of a cotton fabric known as shweshwe fabrics. African fashion houses use this fabric to make traditional lobola dresses and casual clothes. Apart from the mentioned occasions, you can wear these traditional shweshwe dresses on other African occasions.
Interestingly, this fabric is not only used by the Tswana people (also known as Batswana) but is also commonly used in traditional South African clothing. The twill fabric was dyed indigo initially, but now, it has many color variants and various print designs.
